The journey from Singapore to Tanjung Gemok jetty will take an estimated 3.5-4 hours, more or less depending on the time and season, and traffic conditions.

From Singapore, you’ll want to head towards the Woodlands Causeway and head into Johor. Then use the EDL highway as to avoid Jalan Tebrau which can get you stuck in traffic. From here lookout to follow directions to go by Kota Tinggi and then onto Mersing, after that you should already be seeing signs directing you to Tanjung Gemok.

Once you’ve reached Tanjung Gemok look out for sings towards the jetty. You’ll find an open air car park at the jetty where you can park, and the rate for parking here is RM10 per day.

If you’re coming from Kuala Lumpur, you need to take the bus from Kuala Lumpur (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan, also called TBS) to Mersing Bus Terminal.

Unfortunately, there is no direct bus from Kuala Lumpur to Tanjung Gemok Jetty too but the buses will pass by Tg Gemok Jetty. Therefore, remember to inform drivers in advanced for alighting at this jetty.

You have a choice of 3 bus operators that serve the route of Kuala Lumpur to Mersing, namely:

2.3.4 Bus From Kuantan (Pahang) To Tanjung Gemok Jetty & Return

If you’re coming from Kuantan, Pahang, make your way to Terminal Sentral Kuantan and take the bus to Mersing as all intercity buses depart from here.

Unfortunately, there is no direct bus from Kuantan to Tanjung Gemok Jetty but the buses will pass by Tanjung Gemok Jetty before proceeding to Mersing in Johor. Don’t forget to request to alight at Tanjung Gemok Jetty.

Check with your coach operator on the exact time of departure for your trip back, and you may want to purchase a return ticket instead of a single journey for ease of transfer later on.

Tanjung Gemok Jetty is another way to go to Tioman Island by ferry if you missed the ferry at Mersing Jetty (also called Jeti Penumpang).

Whether you’re in Tanjung Gemok for a stopover or a short stay, a quick visit to the nearby island of Tioman will definitely be on your mind.

3.1 How To Book Ferry Ticket From Tanjung Gemok Jetty To Tioman Island

Travelers may purchase tickets over the counter at jetty or make online purchases. Advanced bookings and purchases online are recommended as counter purchases are on a first come first serve basis and counter purchases do not accept foreign currencies.

Total ferry travelling time is 1.5-2 hours to the jetties in Tioman Island which you are alighting. The ferry will transfer you from Tg. Gemok Jetty to Tekek, Kg. Genting, Kg. Paya, Kg. Air Batang and Kg. Salang. All of these jetties located in Tioman Island.

3.5 Operation Time For Tanjung Gemok Jetty

Tanjung Gemok jetty operates throughout the year, except during the monsoon season as the weather and tidal conditions make it unfavorable for ferries and boat to cross over this route.

The peak season is typically from February until November every year. Visitors who are travelling to Tioman close to monsoon season can still make their way to Tioman departing from Mersing Jetty instead.

5. Marine Park and Johor National Park Fee For Tg Gemok Jetty

It’s a one-time payment per person per entry into Tioman Island and the funds collected go towards the preservation and conservation of the Marine Park and sea life in Tioman.

3. Cheng Ho’s Cultural Museum

Opened in 2006, Cheng Ho’s Cultural Museum is a comprehensive gallery exhibiting the life of Cheng Ho in Malacca. The ancient building was reconstructed to resemble the Ming architecture, with a bell tower and a drum flaking at the entrance.

The museum is believed to be built by Cheng Ho as his warehouse complex 600 years ago. He was the admiral of Ming Dynasty who frequently visited Malacca and even marry her daughter to the Sultan of Malacca.

Built in 1646, Cheng Hoon Teng Temple stands as the oldest worship place of Buddhist in Malaysia. It has received the UNESCO award for its outstanding architectural design.

11. The Stadthuys

Being the oldest-surviving building built by Dutch, The Stadthyus was once the residence of the Dutch officers and governors. It was built as the focus point of Dutch government after the Portuguese fort was ruined.
